Which Creative Type Are You? Take the Quiz from Adobe
Call me silly, but I love personality tests.
Some of my favourites are 16Personalities and PrinciplesYou. While they are very similar, the former takes less time to complete than the latter.
Today I have a new favourite to add to this shortlist of personality tests: Creative Types by Adobe. And it’s the shortest of all three. Yay!
Why Take A Personality Test? 🤔
I believe there are at least three reasons why you might want to take a personality test.
✅ Reason #1: You’re at a crossroads in your study or career, and you’re looking for guidance on what to choose next.
✅ Reason #2: You want to work on your personal development, but you are not sure about what your strengths and weaknesses are.
✅ Reason #3: You just want to have some fun.
And you know what? Getting to know yourself a little bit better is really fun!
It makes you feel understood. Like all those little thoughts that have been flashing by in your mind are now put into words. Into something that you can understand… and recognise!
Personality tests have been a great guidance for me when I wasn’t really sure what to do with my life. They helped me understand that I truly am a creative person (a Mediator or Inventor, to be exact). And in the end, I believe that they gave me the push I needed to pursue a creative career with a great level of confidence.
Finding Out Your Creative Type ✨
Given this understanding of myself as a creative person, you can understand my eagerness when Tatiana Shalunova – a close friend and colleague of mine – told me about the Creative Types test today. I couldn’t resist and completed it the first moment I could.
And I’m happy I did.
This is truly a test created by and for creative people. It’s elegant, nice to look at and after each answer you give you’re treated with a short, several-seconds video that illustrates your answer somehow. It’s cool, and inspiring. Especially for me, as I create many kinds of tests for my online courses.
When you answered all the questions (it easily takes less than 5 minutes), you’re presented with your creative type. And thank god: no pay walls or requests to leave your mail.
You’re presented with one of eight options: the Artist, the Thinker, the Adventurer, the Maker, the Producer, the Dreamer, the Innovator, or the Visionary.
My type? The Adventurer.
I’m really happy with that actually. It’s really accurate! It’s especially surprising to me, given that the test was so short and the questions just felt a little… weird. But that’s what us creatives like, isn’t it?
Naturally, the results aren’t black and white. You might not be as happy with your result as I was and that’s OK.
“As creatives, constantly taking on different forms and reinventing ourselves is a part of our DNA”, says the test’s creator.
Everyone probably has a bit of all eight creative types in them, and whatever comes out of the test can depend on your current stage of life, your project or even your mood.
What matters is that you had fun.
Maybe the test gave you inspiration for a new concept or idea. Or maybe it just created a happy moment on a rainy afternoon. Whatever it resulted in for you, please let me know on LinkedIn or by replying to my newsletter which I send out every Sunday.
Oh, and if you know of any more fun tests… I welcome them with open arms.
